FAQ
- How long does it take to receive an itemized bill?
- Most providers respond within two to four weeks. Send your request in writing and keep a copy for your records.
- Is there a fee to request an itemized statement?
- In most cases, no. If a fee is mentioned, you can politely ask for it to be waived in your request.
- What information should an itemized bill include?
- It should list every charge with a description, CPT or HCPCS code, date of service, quantity, unit price, the amount billed to insurance, and your remaining responsibility per line.
- Should I pay anything until I get the itemized bill?
- You can ask the billing department to place your account in good-faith review status while they prepare the itemization. Many providers will pause collection activity during a written review.
